The employees are great. All polite and enthusiastic. Never had a problem with them. However their trade-in deals are very steep. You're better off selling your gear elsewhere.
Should have read these reviews before ordering. Henry’s used to be, emphasis USED TO BE, a good place to order camera equipment from. Not any longer. Beware!
I ordered a Nikon sb700 flash that was supposed to be rated 8+, but instead got a rather scuffed unit without instructions, without the accessories, without a case & without the instruction manual. I’d rate that at about a 5 at best. As well, service was ghastly, it took half a month to reach me, in BC.
NEVER AGAIN is my motto from now on !
I ordered a lens online from Henry’s. I could have purchased the same item on Amazon.ca for 10$ less and free one-day shipping. I guess I was trying to encourage a local Canadian company, but this was a terrible idea. First, it took Henry’s 10 days to process my order (charge my credit card) and another 7 days to ship the item. It took another 3 weeks for Canada Post to deliver my item! Total: almost 5 weeks for a lens to leave Scarborough (Ontario) to be delivered to Ottawa (Ontario)! Impossible, unacceptable delays. Of course, the only thing Henry’s can say is that they are a family run business, which means nothing to me.
I then tried to return the item, and this was not easier. They avoided answering my emails, did not provide correct information, so I ended up keeping the lens. Such a waste of time. Never, never will I ever buy again at Henry’s.
I tried to order paper backdrops that were available in the online store via the phone, due to personal processing issues due to my credit card, when I tried to order online. They had to backorder a large amount of the order (remember: all products were labelled "available" in the online store) from the producer, and told me they would get in touch, once the material arrived at their locations. They shipped one item that was available right away, and promised to provide me with a tracking number. They didn't - I had to call in to investigate...
I never heard from Henry's about the remaining 3 out of 4 items of my original order, that they had promised to backorder. It's been almost two months by now.
If you need something asap and you can source it elsewhere - do yourself a favour and do that.
I ordered online for a Christmas gift. When I received the email that at least one of the items shipped it gave me a link to check the status. Great idea except the link will only work if you have an account, so I opened an account and surprise, they refuse to link the purchases to my account. Called one of the stores who told me that the online section is completely separate so no luck there. It has now been 10 days to deliver it 80kms away. Have called at least 20 times to be told no reps available. Great example of a business that you can't trust when shopping online. Never again
I guess I could go on and on about how bad their customer service is, but quite frankly, I can't get any service - at all.
I placed an order on-line with them about three days ago, got no confirmation of the order, website says "shipping pending".
I made a change to the order and for two days now, nothing - despite two phone calls and three e-mails.
Just awful. I'd cancel my order if I could talk to an agent. Think I may have to call my banking institution and tell them to not charge my Visa card; it was a $2400.00 order.
Buyer beware.
Henry's likes to brag that they price match and will give you an additional 10% of the difference. Don't believe it. I found a $420 difference on a battery grip, which means they should have matched the price and reduced it by an additional $42. I contacted them via their online setup and chatted to a Scott. He refused to honour the price match, stating that it is for in-store only and in any case they would not honour such a large difference anyway. This is contrary to their published terms and conditions and I asked him if he arbitrarily makes the terms up as he goes along, which he clearly does, no response. Long story short, I saved screenshots of the differences and gave them an opportunity to respond. They haven't. I am their perfect demographic for sales. But given this experience they will not see a dollar from me. If you cannot adhere to your own terms and conditions then don't expect me to trust you.
Great Canadian Company that will give you the best price and deal available. I have bought over Ten thousand dollars of camera gear online from Henry's without an issue or worry. Very profession team that will go above and beyond to help you.
Doesn't hurt to email for better pricing than advertised ;-)
Look forward to using them again in the near future.
